JOHN and LORNA ABRAHAMSE, J-Life Ministries

Mission emphasis: Equipping Africans as disciple making youth leaders with J-Life Ministries to reach Africa for Jesus. 40 students come annually for 4 months of training in residence before being sent in teams of 4 throughout South Africa and Swaziland to initiate youth ministries and train local volunteers for 7 months.

Status in 2005: John and Lorna founded and continue to direct J-Life as an indigenous training and Christian retreat center outside of Johannesburg.

Fun Facts: two children-Jordan, 3 and Nathan, 8 months; both John and Lorna have BA degrees from the Baptist Theological College of SA; John grew up on his father’s farm; Lorna grew up in beautiful Capetown; John led a growing youth ministry outside Johannesburg for 7 years before starting J-Life in 2001.

Birthdays: John-October 7, Lorna-August 24, Jordan-October 4, Nathan-August 10

Prayer Requests: Recruiting students, staff, teachers and host ministry sites annually; retreat bookings which sustain the ministry financially; the new building project which HRC is underwriting as a source of new funding towards the creation of another training center in Swaziland; health and stamina for daily demands of hosting and training 40 young people; ongoing mentoring of youth leaders.
