Rationale
for guidelines
HRC Missions Team knows that from time to time we
will have a request from members of our congregation for financial support for mission
trips. These requests will inevitably vary
from person to person depending on their financial situation and need.
Who
can participate on a mission trip and who is
eligible for a mission’s scholarship?
Any person that calls the Hopewell Reformed Church
their place of worship is eligible.
Adults or Young Adults and teens (teens must have guardian authorization
to participate in a mission team).
How
much financial support will be given?
The mission’s team will cover a maximum of 1/3 of
the cost of the travel expense (i.e. airfare, ground transportation or boat)
What
are the criteria for getting a mission’s scholarship?
a) That
an assigned book on missions is read and a summary report be submitted within
one month of the Scholarship application form being completed.
b) Volunteering
for two (2) Community Maintenance Programs (CMP) in the last year and is
completed prior to the Scholarship application form being completed.
c) Volunteer
for one (1) CMP and write a (1) page summary report of the experience prior to
the Scholarship application form being completed.
d) Christian
community service (i.e. Homeless Shelter, Soup kitchen,
Salvation
Army stuff etc.) with a 1 page report.
The total experience
should
equal approximately 16 hrs of effort by anyone.
