WORDS OF HOPE- DAVID BAST
Mission Emphasis: Words of Hope’s mission is to proclaim Jesus Christ by radio and literature in the languages of the world’s peoples, seeking with our partners in ministry to win the uncommitted everywhere to faith in Christ and to encourage Christians in the life of discipleship. They seek to accomplish this through:
- Radio – Broadcasting the gospel in more than 40 languages worldwide,
- Literature – Providing devotional booklets, transcripts, Bible studies, prayer guides,
- Tapes, CDs – Distributing CDs and video cassettes for church or personal evangelism
Why Radio? Missions via radio (is):
- Efficient – Powerful transmitters allow radio to reach vast areas closed to missionaries,
- Cost-effective – One broadcaster can reach millions of listeners in distant places,
- Works! – People listen to radio almost everywhere on earth
Fun facts: Sixty years ago, a pastor ill at home on a Sunday morning was seeking a Christian radio broadcast to minister to him. Not finding such a station prompted him to initiate the idea of a Christian radio station. That idea ultimately led David Bast, Cathy Holbrook’s uncle, to found Words of Hope to reach the world, hungry for the good news.
Prayer requests:
- - Praise for His promise that His Word will not return void
- - For the protection of translators, broadcasters, and especially listeners
- - For protection of the transmitters and other equipment against the attacks of the Enemy
- - For ears and hearts to be open to the gospel
Invitation to Serve: Your small group could “adopt” a language broadcast for a few years and identify with the people group in that specific location.
